F-150 or Ram 1500: Performance & Fuel-Efficiency

You’ll get a powerful V6 or V8 engine with both the RAM 1500 and the Ford F-150, as well as smooth-operating transmissions, but which one is better suited to your Aloha driving requirements? Explore their specs in detail:

  • Ram 1500 Engines: Your standard engine on the RAM 1500 is a 305-hp 3.6L V6. You can also upgrade to a 395-hp 5.7L V8 or a mild hybrid version of the V8 that will get better fuel economy to save you money at Aloha gas stations.
  • F-150 Engines: With the Ford F-150, there are six engine options, starting with a 250-hp 3.0L turbo-diesel engine and ending with a 395-hp 5.0L V8.
  • Transmissions: The RAM 1500 is available with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the F-150 offers a 6- or 10-speed automatic transmission.
  • Fuel Economy Ratings: The fuel economy ratings of these two trucks falls just short of being the same, with the F-150 earning up to 20 mpg city/26 mpg highway and the RAM 1500 earning up to 20 mpg city/25 mpg highway.

F-150 or Ram 1500: Towing

Did you know the RAM 1500 earned Best-in-Class V8 Towing*? This is in thanks to its 5.7L HEMI® engine with eTorque, which allows it to tow up to 12,750 pounds! Because of this impressive stat, the 1500 V8 engine outclasses the F-150 V8 engine. Both full-size trucks deliver 395 hp, but the HEMI® can tow more.

When fitted with its 5.0L V8, the F-150 can tow up to 11,600 pounds, or, with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6, it can tow up to 13,000 pounds, which is not significantly more than the RAM 1500.
